Courtroom of the Future
The Cobb County Superior Court recently received a grant from the State Justice Institute to develop a Courtroom of the Future. The benefits of the Courtroom of the Future will include not only time savings, but also monetary savings. There will be no wait to use equipment such as TV's and VCR's, no last minute interpreter requests, and no wait to access the latest version of the law. The Courtroom of the Future will be ADA compliant and offer realtime court reporting. With a media room and remote cameras in the courtroom, set-up time for the media will be eliminated. With these advancements in the courtroom, there will be more time in court and less downtime, which means more efficiency in hearing cases.
The goals of the Courtroom of the Future include:
- To have a state of the art audio, visual, computer, and lighting system
- To have a courtroom that is fully ADA compliant,
- To provide easy, unobtrusive access for the media,
- To provide quicker, easier access for non-English speaking participants,
- To increase organizational integration by providing access to the clerk's system, Law Library system, and realtime court reporting,
- To provide the jury room with wiring for future capabilities,
- To provide a facility for educational purposes, and
- To provide a user-friendly system.
